Seeking refuge has become a phenomenon of our time, throughout the world and in the Muslim world in particular. This book examines the Prophetic guidance on the problems of refuge in light of the Companions' migration to Abyssinia, may Allah be pleased with them, and draws out lessons on how to deal with these problems today.
In the Prophetic biography, refuge took place in the Meccan period, when some of the Companions sought refuge in Abyssinia twice with the permission of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. The biography shows that killing and oppression are among the chief causes of refuge; the migration to Abyssinia is therefore one of the most important forms of refuge in Islam, and the first political refuge of Muslims in a non-Muslim land.
The book offers rich knowledge of its subject in simple language, combining thoroughness with brevity — a hallmark of the author's writing.
