This book aims to make Muslims aware of the trials of doubt (fitan al-shubuhat) in the Prophetic Sunnah, so that they recognise them as soon as they arise, and to show the way out of them. In our time trials and changing conditions have appeared and spread — the corruption of religion, the division of hearts, the revival of innovations and the death of the Sunnah — all signs that our Prophet warned us of.
The trials of doubt appear in the Sunnah in seven forms: innovation and desire; blameworthy division and disagreement; the domination of the unbelievers over the believers; their superiority in worldly matters; allegiance to the unbelievers; adversity; and prosperity.
The author recommends working to warn against these trials and to guard against them, and including them in school curricula, university courses and research in higher education. The book offers rich knowledge of its subject in simple language, combining thoroughness with brevity — a hallmark of the author's writing.
