This book gathers a string of eloquent women in the history of the Arabs and Islam, from before Islam until the last days of classical Arabic, when the colloquial began to dominate. Their words came close to the concise speech that says much in few letters, with precise description, eloquence and clarity — so much so that many of their sayings became proverbs fit for every time and place. And even if, after so long, not every one of them can be followed as a model, these selections hold many lessons and examples.
