In this book the author discusses Orientalism: its definition, motives, aims and activities. He presents and answers the Orientalists' doubts about the concept of the Prophetic Sunnah — their focus on some of its linguistic meanings, their separation of the concept of hadith from that of Sunnah, and their claim that both concepts are not Arabic in origin. He also answers their doubts about the prohibition of writing down the Sunnah, and about the criticism of the text and chains of the Sunnah.
The book offers broad knowledge of its subject in simple language, combining thoroughness with brevity — a hallmark of the author's writing.
