Abu Mushir, Abd al-A'la ibn Mushir al-Ghassani, was the undisputed scholar and shaykh of Syria, holding in Damascus the high rank Imam Ahmad held in Baghdad. He was an example of steadfastness on the truth: when al-Ma'mun called him to declare the Qur'an created, he refused, debated him and established the proof against him in agreement with the Sunnah, and died in prison, patient and hoping for his reward from Allah.
This book contains the hadith narrated by Abu Mushir from Damascene narrators; his notebook also includes hadith of the jurist and hadith scholar Yahya ibn Salih al-Wuhazi and others. The editor has done well to revive the life of Abu Mushir, who himself revived the Sunnah of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with careful biographies of him and of the other narrators.
