This book contains hadith, reports, stories and poems that al-Hafiz Ibn Tulun al-Dimashqi heard or taught in the houses of Qur'an and hadith, the mosques and the schools of Damascus and its suburbs, with biographies of their founders and his encounters with their teachers of recitation.
Its importance comes from its author: one of the great Damascene historians, jurists and men of letters of the ninth century AH, well acquainted with the scholarly life and the many schools of law of his time. The editor, Dr. Muti' al-Hafiz, took exceptional care in bringing out this rare manuscript.
